Install new font

E ' very simple operation but some do not even know where to start.
The installation of new fonts (yes, I have recently discovered that "font" is feminine) is necessary if we need to add a specific style to our work. There are dozens of resources to download free font, but maybe we will speak of this again ... ;)

Here, briefly, the simple steps for installing a new character:
  1. font files are characterized by ' extension. ttf (True Type Font).
If you download a font from a site, you will in most cases a zip file containing the file. ttf.
Unpack the zip and save the. Ttf somewhere (even on the desktop)
  2. open the font folder:

    1. from the Start Menu -> Settings -> Control Panel -> types Character
      or
    2. from the Start menu -> Run -> " c: \\ windows \\ fonts "

  3. Install the new character:

    1. menu File - Install New Font
    2. choose the folder where you saved the file.
    3. TTF

... FACT :)
Now the new font will be available in all your graphic programs, office, etc..
careful because some programs load the list of fonts on startup, so if the program was open when installing the new character, maybe you need to close it and reopen it to see the changes ...

A system even faster? Ok
Say you just downloaded to install the new fonts (eg from DaFont.com that is my favorite) ..
usually the characters are available in a zip file contains. + ttf file ReadMe.txt
  1. Open. zip file with WinZip or WinRAR or whatever you prefer
  2. Extract the TTF directly in c: \\ windows \\ fonts

... DONE! :)

Got a Mac? Even simpler: click on the file ... and the TTF font you install on your own!

Have you seen? said than done if you click the right mouse button on the TTF file, you'll see that there is the "install" ... et voila!

Copyright Information
One last point: always do a lot of attention to any readme file (or readme ) that accompanies the font; usually contains information on copyright and license. Some fonts are in fact free, but they can only be used for non-commercial projects. Others require that the author is stated somewhere. Others are completely free. It's worth a look, it can avoid running into legal problems (rare, but extremely annoying if it happens).
And then, ricordiamocelo, who created a font and it was "given" to the web is a creative who has made a huge please : it is a gesture having to read what he has to say! ;)
the next
