Japanese installed base: 8,456,856 Wii
J-RPG for each console sold: 0.25 (0.15 without Mario and Pokémon )

The data of the Wii remain fairly constant compared to last September having the results are not striking (often classified as a flop, despite a number of distinctions related to individual cases) of J-RPG released from that date to today, from Crystal Bearers to Graces, and significant increases in installed base Christmas time does nothing but further dilute the value of J-RPG for console sold, slightly distorting 'the data.

positive contribution instead of the budget issues "Minna no Susume Selection" to the sales of titles already out, especially Muramasa (that among the new sales and boost the regular edition release budget moves away from the 'area flop "in which many had entered), allowing new buyers to know the various Wii deserving titles released in the previous period. The initiative seems destined to continue with other titles in need of a boost in sales as Graces.

From the perspective of the ads is interesting to note that for months now the third parties do not announce more than almost anything, making the offer J-RPGistica all come from Nintendo itself, with Xenoblade , developed by Monolith Soft team. long since forfeited by Nintendo (and the name change from Monad to Xenoblade is clearly aimed at the old fanbase Xeno , beyond the lack of links between narrative games) and The Last Story (outsourced at Mistwalker, which in turn delegated the development to other companies, but always financed and published by Nintendo).

It's actually a bit 'late to try to boost the supply J-RPGistica on the Wii, however, as the attempt remains commendable. If the voice on the trailer in advance of delivery of the Japanese stores were true, would have an Xenoblade advertising coverage uncommon for minor productions Nintendo, and although this will certainly not sell a lot on the flop should avoid that many respects to the advertiser. On The Last Story is difficult to rule in his hand only artwork instead.

In any case, the boost could come to Wii only Dragon Quest X , huge blockbuster that might bear the weight of a sudden the interest of fans of the genre on the Nintendo console (and even there it would be seen how much actual impact on sales of securities minors). The problem is that unless new information is likely to arrive toward the end of the generation too late to have any effect on a fanbase already "marked" by various titles, including (within the home, of course) FF XIII, Versus XIII and so on. However, it is too early to speculate any kind.

J-RPG sold: 1,236,000
Japanese installed base: 1,272,954 Xbox 360
J-RPG for each console sold: 0.97 Comparison

with previous data:

9 / 2009 J-RPG
Total sales: 1,175,000
Japanese installed base: 1,115,671 Xbox 360
J-RPG for each console sold: 1.05

For 360 little to report from last September: increase sales of some titles already released (as Vesperia , Which slightly exceeds Blue Dragon and becomes the second game in JAP 360 or MagnaCarta II, which improves the result compared to its little exciting initial data) and other results are mediocre (as Resonance of Fate, which PS3 sells about one-fifth edition). The very small increase in the installed base compared to the previous case a small decrease in the ratio JRPG / console but just for the few console purchased and the incidence of JRPG line-up, is still the highest among those of three consoles.

The most worrying aspect of the line-up RPGistica J-360 is the almost total lack of new listings (except some porting of niche games released on PC and the likely but not yet announced porting PS3 games developed by Compile Heart), which not only makes the platform less attractive for fans of the genre, but it forces those who have already bought to migrate home on the other platforms to play new games, more so now that PS3 has now recovered nearly all of the exclusive 360 in weight. The most obvious was Final Fantasy XIII (PS3 exclusive in Japan), but more will follow if the situation does not change in the near future.

The new campaign of obtaining exclusive Microsoft Japan ( Mission, with its commercial trash / comedy in which three Microsoft employees, including Man X360, threaten to tear the skin new titles), moreover, aimed to securities decidedly low budget, marking a profound difference with the strategy of previous years, aims to ensure exclusive J-RPGistiche weight as Vesperia, Star Ocean 4 , Infinite Undiscovery, The Last Remnant and so on. More than the fans of J-RPG, Microsoft Japan seem interested in cultivating niche otaku fan of visual novel and the arcade shmup lovers danmaku .

Predictably PS3 is seeing more change in his situation since last September. Much of the credit is due to FF XIII and his enormous boost to the total sales of J-RPG (which overcomes the previous record of Wii), I pointed out that boost proposing - as for the total Wii with and without Paper Mario and Pokémon - values with and without FF XIII, such as to emphasize the weight of that single out from the rest. Beyond the posted data is also important to consider the value of a hardware address that blockbuster of this kind can have for J-RPGistica fanbase (and also for smaller developers themselves), a value that could be countered only by fully Dragon Quest X for Wii. In addition to the blockbuster

Square Enix also has the excellent performance of Tales of Vesperia , and the support of many other titles more or less children (ranging from the results, however, good to Resonance of Fate and Ar Tonelico III , through sales of discrete porting Star Ocean, up to the flop of 3D Dot Game Heroes ) and the impact of budget issues (particularly Demon's Souls ) do get more than twice the ratio of J-RPG for console seen in September 2009, rising from 0.31 to 0.76 (recall however, that the shift would be only 0.31 to 0.39 if escludessimo FF XIII), coming very close to that of the Xbox 360 and leaving behind the Wii's 0.25.

In terms of outputs and announcements, however, the last eight months have been important to the PS3, which has had a continuous flow of J-RPGs of various kinds (often released after a little with the risk of penalizing each other, as in If Resonance of Fate with Ar Tonelico III, Last Rebellion and Star Ocean 4 ), mostly with sales generally satisfactory ( Vesperia has sold nearly twice the 360 version, Ar Tonelico III is the top seller in series, Star Ocean had a good result despite being a port almost no additions, etc.). and unlike the other two platforms have several titles in output, again coated between mainstream and niche titles (4 Disgaea , White Knight Chronicles 2 , FF Versus XIII , Agarest 2, Neptune , Atelier Totoro, etc.)..
